Core issue constellations can be done for individuals and for organizations. The core issue is the most fundamental and most actual challenge we face. It is the issue with the highest priority, with the most transformational potential for the actual situation. When is it indicated to find the core issue? Almost by definition almost always. More specifically:
• when we don’t know anymore what our priorities are
• when we have a crisis on our hands or on the verge of a crisis
• when we are not sure what direction to take
• when we are unsure of our mission
• when we seem stagnated
• when we are suffering the consequences of an overblown success
• when we have serious health or energy problems
Core issue analysis is methodically identifying the major actual challenge of an organization or community or individual. Core issue transformation is radically concentrating on resolving this issue and as individual, group or organization take a next step in development. Who resolves his core issue, transforms himself.
Usually, we find the core issue in the dark. What is ignored? What is avoided? What is conveniently forgotten? When we hit a core, intuition and intellect meet. A good issue analysis leads to Eureka!, because it brings something sensed, felt, suspected into focus. When a core issue is successfully dealt with, our situation is transformed. We become more vital, more competent, more focused, more effective, or more efficient. Often all of that simultaneously.
Core issues can be found by rigorous analysis, altough that is somewhat easier for organizations than for individuals. Core issues can also be found more intuitively. The problem with that is to remain free from preconceptions and from the play of hope and fear. Then a core issue constellation is a powerful alternative. We have experience with such constellations both for individuals and organizations and done them in the Netherlands, Finland, India, Japan and Brazil.
